Before you reserve

Rental questions, answered clearly.

These are general Vachon Rental Cars guidelines. Your quote and signed rental agreement control the exact details for your vehicle and reservation.

Can I rent with a debit card?

Yes. Debit cards are accepted. A security deposit starts at $300 for standard vehicles and may be higher depending on the vehicle, reservation, and other requirements.

How old do I need to be to rent?

The minimum rental age is 21. A young-driver fee applies to renters ages 21–25.

Where do I pick up my vehicle?

All rentals currently pick up at 615 Reservoir Ave in Cranston, Rhode Island.

Do I need my own full-coverage insurance?

You may use qualifying transferable comprehensive and collision coverage. If you do not have it, our team can review available damage-waiver options with you before pickup.

Is there a mileage limit?

Mileage allowances vary by vehicle and are commonly 100 or 200 miles per rental day. The exact allowance and over-mileage rate appear in your quote and rental agreement.

Are rentals available 24/7?

Yes. Rentals and scheduled vehicle pickup are available 24/7 by advance reservation. The office is staffed Monday–Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM; arrange after-hours pickup with our team in advance.

Can I return after office hours?

After-hours returns may be arranged in advance. Follow the instructions sent with your reservation and contact our team during business hours if you need help.

Do you offer one-way rentals?

One-way rentals are not currently offered. Vehicles must be returned according to the location and instructions listed in the rental agreement.

Can I add another driver?

Additional drivers must be approved and added to the rental agreement before driving. Contact our team for the current requirements and any applicable charge.

Can I extend or modify my reservation?

Contact us before the scheduled return time. Extensions and changes depend on availability and are not complete until the team confirms them. Longer rentals may require a rewritten agreement.

What happens if I return late?

Vachon provides a one-hour grace period. Returns after the grace period may result in additional charges under the rental agreement. Contact us immediately if your plans change.

What identification do I need?

Bring a valid driver’s license and the payment method used for the reservation. Non-U.S. licenses may require a valid passport or additional identification.

What should I do after an accident or damage?

Move to a safe location, contact emergency services when needed, document the scene, and notify Vachon Rental Cars promptly. Follow the accident and reporting instructions in your rental agreement.
